Description:
A stunning jug from Moore's Pottery in Sunderland.
Above quite a rare version of the 'IRON BRIDGE over the RIVER WEAR' print is the caption 'Sunderland Coal Trade' in a ribbon surmounted by a crown.
Below the scalloped spout is the usual seafaring rhyme, 'The sails unfurl....' in a coloured garland of flowers. The final transfer is of a ship at sea in full sail.
Vibrant zig zag patterns in green and purple fill the body between the transfers and flowers adorn the inner and outer rim.
Superb.
Circa 1820-30
Approx. 8.25 inches (210mm) tall x 8.5 inches (220mm) girth.
In excellent condition throughout.
